Redevelopment
Jacob Riis Park was designed by New York City in 1912. Twenty years later, in 1932, the city built its famous bathhouse for the recreation of its citizens. Left vacant since the 1970s, this historic building has been patiently waiting for revival.
During the pre-construction status, a bar and restaurant set up will be operated by the Brooklyn Bazaar on the first floor as well as beach shops and ice cream stand. The second floor and roof will be vacant and gutted. The NPS lifeguard station will be located in the left wing and the courtyard will be activated with volleyball and a “glamping” site.
Development Plan
The development plans include creating a concert venue and performance area to host 1,800 people, which will be one of the largest outdoor concert venues in New York City and the only Beach Front venue on this scale.
An indoor and outdoor event space with the indoor space, an ideal space for year-round private and corporate events hosting up to 200 people.
